The goal of the game is to get rid of cards in each round as quickly as possible and to get points for cards that have been left in the hands of other players.
The winner is the first player to get rid of the cards. After showing the penultimate card, the player must shout "UNO". If he does not cry and is "caught", he takes more cards.
