For this memory game you need a brain the size of an elephant’s to keep up with the animals who often move between hiding places. Be careful not to lose the track of them and be the first player to win five cards.
Contents: 9 animal counters + 9 coloured covers + 54 cards (27 animal cards + 27 action cards).
Preparing to play: place the nine counters in a circle in the middle of the table. Place one cover behind each of the nine counters. All players spend 30 seconds memorizing all of the counters and covers, before the covers are placed over the counters. The deck of cards is shuffled then stacked face down near the players.
How to play: The youngest player starts (player A). Turn over the top card from the stack and follow the instructions:
Animal card: Try to remember under which cover that animal is hiding, then lift whichever you think is the right cover.
- If you were right, you win the card which you lay down in front of you. Replace the cover over the counter and then it is the next player’s turn.
- If you were wrong, replace the cover, and it is the next player, player B’s turn to try to find the corresponding animal counter by lifting a cover. If player B guesses wrongly too, he also replaces the cover he lifted, and it is then player C’s turn to try to find the right counter, and so on, until every player has had a turn.
When the counter is found or when every player has had a turn, the game resumes with player B turning over the next card from the stack and playing.
-”Swap places” + animal card: Move two covers (identical to those shown on the card) so that they swap places, without lifting them, so that nobody sees the counters which remain underneath their respective covers during the manoeuvre. Then try to remember under which cover the animal shown on the card is hiding, and lift whichever you think is the right cover. Then follow the rules for “animal” cards.
-“Lift one cover” + animal card: Lift up a cover of the colour shown on the card, so that all of the players can see the animal counter hiding underneath. Then try to remember under which cover the animal shown on the card is hiding, and lift whichever you think is the right cover. Then follow the rules for “animal” cards.
-“Swap two covers” + animal card: Lift up and swap over any two covers of your choice which match the colours shown on the card. The animal counters do not move and so are visible during the exchange. Then try to remember under which cover the animal shown on the card is hiding, and lift whichever you think
Winning: The first player to win five cards wins the game.
